5/7 of The Ghost Orchid

The Ghost Orchid is a 5/5 cache in Fakahatchee Swamp.  We now have three trips into the swamp with no smiley, but we are getting closer.

We jumped into the wet and wild journey in February 2018.  We spotted an ibis.

and a warbler

We enjoyed the flowers

We could not find stage 1 in the rain.  😞

Undaunted, we came back this year for another try on the 6th of February.  It was still wet.

This outing we found three stages!

We were also treated to ibis sightings,

AND a green heron

Flush with confidence we made our way back on Thursday.  We were confident.  We were sure.  This would be the day.  😏

Much of each of these journeys looked a lot like this.

For the little stretches that were not spent working through dense growth, the journey was peaceful and the views were awesome.

Even though they were not in bloom, there were orchids everywhere.

Despite our third effort in the swamp it was not to be.  We left with two unfound stages remaining.  It will be another year before our adventure can continue.
